Sunday, June 7th, 9AM-3PM join Greater Oakridge Area Trail Stewards (GOATS), Disciples of Dirt, Trips for Kids-CAT, Dirt Dojo, Oregon Adventures and Fat 55 for the second bi-annual 2014 Kids Mountain Bike Oakridge at Greenwaters Park in Oakridge!
Bring your own bike-and-trailer combo and enjoy a family-friendly cruise while your older kids learn new skills, including basic body positioning and how to balance bikes with more confidence while navigating trails and obstacles, gauging speed, tight turns and corners.
Although we highly recommend your children bring their own bikes and helmets, we will have a very limited supply of bikes that can be borrowed free for the day from the Trips for Kids-CAT bike corral. (Please indicate during online registration process - see reg link below.)
On-site check-in begins at 9AM sharp! We'll be running each bike and rider through a safety check and skills assessment before leaving the park for our first ride of the day.
The Alpine Trail shuttle will leave from Greenwaters Park at 10AM. We will also offer guided rides starting from Greenwaters Park to Diamond View Pumptrack, Salmon Creek Trail and the Canal Trail Family Ride. Lunch will be served at noon, with shuttled rides leaving the park at 1PM for more advanced riders. Afternoon shuttle rides are expected to include Flat Creek, Aubrey Mountain, and Larison Rock.
Raffle prizes provided by Lane County area bicycle shops and IBIS will be raffling off a bike of choice to help raise money for future Kids Mountain Bike Oakridge events. Please consider donating $25 to the GOATS Youth Fund during the event to help us sustain this event and keep it free for participating kids!
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR ALL VOLUNTEERS AND PARTICIPANTS. LIMITED SPACE AVAILABLE. Preference for available seats will be given to kids and guides.
